Artist's Comments

This picture is symbolic of the cross and God's love that was demonstrated through His Son's death upon a cross. The love of God is unfailing, uncomparable, undying, indescribable.... By paying the price for my sins and the sins of the whole world, Jesus took on everything we should have had done to us because of our lawlessness, sinfulness, wickedness, etc. He was treated like a criminal even though He lived a sinless life... and He allowed it to happen... just because He loves us so much. His love... it is so vast, so, so deep! It is too much for me to even begin to comprehend! Only TRUE love could ever motivate a person to feel extreme pain being inflicted upon them for no reason at all -- all because they are doing it in place of the one they love so desperately. This -- this is Jesus. This is what He did -- what He sacrificed to PROVE His love for us!

anyway, this is my way of describing His love for us in a picture.... and it is a reminder of what He did... that He has redeemed us... that He conquered death... that He came back to life... and that He's coming back for us!!

Although I have to admit that I don't believe in (that) God I have to say the the picture itself is beautiful, no even with the description bound to it it's beautiful. I may not believe in the God but I'm not so closed to it that I can't accept that others DO believe. I haven't really got anything usefull to say in regard to the quality of the picture other than that using a frame to seperate it from backgrounds that don't add anything to it would be good.

hey, thanks so much for the comment!!! I checked out your gallery, and it's really sweet!! good job! and... if you don't mind my asking... why don't you believe in God? I'm just wondering... :)

very strong image

This is a gorgeous image. The tonal range, the pose, all very dramatic and striking. What really makes it strong though is that so many more interpretations could apply to it. Your lengthy description is but one take on an image that could also be perceived as a photo about triumph, deliverance, arrival and many other human themes.

Also, though I may not agree with the content in your description, kudos on your courage in strongly presenting your beliefs to such a wide and varied audience.

Well I never was really religious and I don't come from a family that is, I just got through all the ceremonies because that's just something you do, but it was never my choice really. So I never got raised with a strong belief in God. Then a couple of months ago, maybe even longer, I was quite neutral to the subject but more on the side of questioning it that believing it. Then they started giving philosophy classes in school, and they told about the great philosophers and their thinking.

Now you have to know that I'm really attracted by modern sience, and I had to choose between art or sience for the rest of my life, I chose for what was most fun to do in school because I'd rather live poor and happy than the other way around :) Art to me is very much like sience, you got rules, but they can be broken in the quest for knowledge and expiernce(s).

Anyway, I'm very interested in philosophy because it often combines a certain fantasy with sience and good thinking. Then I heard Marx's and other explanations about what they think god is, and that sounds far more obvious than the fairytale over 90% of the world population believes in. (sorry for saying it that way ;) ) So, in a nutshell, philosophy made me lose every belief in God in the way most people believe in "him"

hey, thanks for sharing what you truly believe and stuff... I appreciate that. I don't know much about philosophy and what it teaches, but I have been raised in a Christian home my whole life. I am currently going to a Christian school, and so I know alot about it, I guess you could say. lol. But what I have found is that with God, it's not like "religion" like it seems to be... To be a Christian is to be "Christ-like". Sadly, I do not think many people understand that simple concept. They see it as a religion... something filled with rules, rituals, etc. But they are so wrong. What it really is, is a relationship with God. Yes, it is good to go to church and help the needy and what not, but not just for the sake of DOING IT. He wants us to do good out of love, the love that He has shown us/has for us. Do you get what I'm saying? All God asks of us to simply believe in Him, that He is God, and follow Him... and this requires faith. We (Christians) are called to be ambassadors for Christ and to represent Him to the world. And, like I said before, unfortunately, some who claim to be just that are not; they just wear the "label". So by doing so, they are misrepresenting Him.
I don't know how much you know or have heard/think about God or Christianity, but all I know is that He is real. He has proved that to me over and over in my life... ;) but if you have any questions about ANYTHING, even if you just wanted to know about something He's shown me or whatever, feel free to ask. I won't be offended or anything like that about what you believe. :)
but it's been nice talking to you! I've enjoyed our conversation so far. :)
